Babe's is open from 11 am 'til 2 amevery day it undergoes an amazing transformation. During the day it's one of Austin's best hamburger restaurants, serving delicious burgers and fries. Then, sometime around dusk, it becomes one of the city's most exciting and crowded live music venues. With a stage that backs right up to Sixth Street, Babe's lures music fans off the street like a nightlight attracts moths. Another stage with a small dance floor is located on the other side of the club; this is usually reserved for the more experimental (read: louder) acts that play here. The clientele is fun and laid-back, and the beer is cheap and served quickly. What more could you want? --Mike D'Alonzo
